Muttiah Muralitharan "A World Record Holder"

Muttiah Muralitharan is a Sri Lankan cricketer, born on 17-April-1972, who is generally regarded as one of the greatest bowlers in cricket history, His unique bowling action coupled with his ability to amass wickets has made him one of the most famous cricketers of modern times. He has been awarded the best test bowler of all times by Wisden in 2002. He retired from Test cricket in 2010, registering his 800th wicket and final wicket on 22 July 2010 from his final ball in his last test match.

Muttiah Muralitharan Records:
  • Holds the World Record of highest number of wickets in both formats Test and Odi Cricket. He has taken 800 wickets in Test and 534 wickets in ODI matches. 
  • Holds the World Record of most number of 67 times five wicket haul in test cricket.
  • Holds the World Record of reaching fastest the mark of 350, 400, 450, 500, 550, 600, 650 and 700 test wickets in terms of matches played.
  • Holds the World Record of being the only player to have taken more than fifty test wickets against all test playing nations.
  • Holds the World Record of taking seven wickets in an innings against most number of five Countries.
  • He has taken Most number of bowled 157 times, Most number of stumped 41 times and Most number of caught and bowled 31 times in test cricket 
  • He shares the Second most number of 19 times Man of the Match awards with in Test matches.
  • Holds the World record of taking more than 100 wickets in one single ground at Sinhalese Sports Club Ground, Colombo.
  • Holds the World Record of being the only cricket player to have taken more than 75 wickets in three calendar years. He has achieved this feat in the years 2000, 2001 and 2006.
  • He is only one of the six test players in the history of test cricket to have dismissed all the eleven batsmen in a test match.
