Little Highlights on World Cup Final 1987

Reliance Cricket World Cup 1987 was the Fourth edition of the International Cricket Council's (ICC). It was held from Oct 8 to Nov 8 1987, hosted by Pakistan and India.The final of that tournament set a clash between the Australia with the Englishmen at subcontinent cricket Mecca Eden Gardens, Calcutta on 8th November 1987.

In The Final:
  • Australia won the toss and batting first Boon and Marsh gave a opening stand of 75 Runs,
  • The man of the match DC Boon's steady (75 off 125 balls, 7 Fours) and MRJ Velettas Fiery notout (45 off 31 balls, 6 Fours) helped Australia to reach 253 in 50 overs.
  • England's EE Hemming took 2 wickets,
  • In Reply, English middle order respond strongly as CWJ Athey (58 off 103 balls, 2 Fours), 
  • MW Gatting (41 off 45 balls, 3 Fours and 1 Six) 
  • And Aj Lamb (45 off 55 balls, 4 Fours) helped England to reach 246.
  • SR Waugh and AR Border off Australia took two wickets each,
  • Australia Winning the Final by 7 Runs and lift the trophy for the first time.
